Lavetta Mae Ruth Korf, 67, of Firth, NE, passed away January 20, 2021. She was born November 9, 1953 in Tribune, KS to L.E. and Betty (Gibson) Whitesell.
Lavetta went to school at Greeley County High School in Tribune, KS. She graduated from Wesley Medical Center School of Nursing in Wichita, KS in 1976, and then started practicing as a registered nurse at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, KS. She married Clifford Korf on March 19, 1977 in Garden City. They lived in Wichita and Leoti, KS, then Denton, NE, and Sarasota, FL, before settling in Firth, NE. Lavetta was totally and completely devoted to her family. She homeschooled all three of her children until they entered college. The LORD was the center of her life and she lived her life in accordance with God’s will. One of Lavetta’s greatest joys was keeping up with all of her friends from her early childhood and adult life. An exceptional and loving person, Lavetta will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Cliff Korf, son, Jonathan Korf, grandchild, Tegan Korf, son, Benjamin (Elisa) Korf, grandchildren, Davina Korf and Leyna Blacksmith, daughter, Rachel Cordes, grandchild, Liam Cordes, son, Jeremy Cordes, cousin, Blanch House, sister, Sharon Burkhardt, and sister-in-law, Pear Gibson.
Preceded in death by her parents, oldest daughter, Dena Mae Korf, and brother, Richard Gibson.
Funeral Service 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Metcalf Funeral Home Chapel, 245 N. 27Th Street, Lincoln, NE
Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service at Metcalf Funeral Home
Interment 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Cimarron Cemetery, in Cimarron, KS
