Richard “Rich” Lilja, of Lincoln, passed away at the Nebraska Heart Hospital on August 29, 2020 surrounded by family after a brief illness with cancer. He was born on September 6, 1943 in Omaha, Ne to Elving and Ruth Lilja. He was raised on a farm south of Wahoo, Ne. After high school, he attended Lincoln School of Commerce. He worked, and later on was part owner of Gross Amoco Oil Company for 40 + years before he retired. He married the ‘Love of his Life’, Velree Duerfeldt, in 1965 and was married for 55 years. Together they raised two sons, Mike and Mark. Rich loved helping friends and family, music, and sharing his talents on the electronic keyboard. He enjoyed his home and time at Lake of the Ozarks. His passion was being out on the water and playing music for others to enjoy. He is survived by his wife, Velree, sons, Mike (Sherri), of Nebraska City, Mark,of Lincoln, grandchildren, Heather Lilja, of Grand Prairie, TX, Logan and Dusty Lilja, of Concordia, KS, sisters, Sheryl (Lyle) Cramblet, of Lincoln, Jan (George) Briggs, of Arlington, TX, niece, Deb (Derek) Swisher, of Kansas City, MO, nephew, Jeremy Cramblet, of Lincoln, and many friends and family. Preceded in death by his parents, Elving and Ruth Lilja, and brother, Jerry Lilja.
