Dwain (Howdy) LeRoy Anderson, 80, of Ceresco, NE. He passed away in Wahoo, NE on June 11, 2019. He was born on December 28, 1938, in Lincoln, NE to Roy and Verlie (Engstrom) Anderson.
He attended District 40 Country School in Saunders County and graduated with the class of 1956 from Ceresco High School. He was baptized and confirmed at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Ceresco. Dwain began a career in the grocery business with Safeway Stores in Lincoln, NE, he was promoted several times and moved into management of his own store in Geneva, NE. Later he managed several stores in the Springfield, MO area for Affiliated Food Stores. Following the sudden death of his father, Dwain returned home to assume the responsibility of the family farm northwest of Ceresco. He farmed 1,100 acres besides running a large hog operation, then later to raising stock cattle. In 2006 he married Elaine Randolph and together they enjoyed 12 years of family and church events, plus extensive travel. Dwain especially enjoyed their trips to Alaska and to Africa!
He is survived by his wife Elaine, his sisters; Ruth (Richard) Edelman of Oswego, IL, and Marilyn (Don) Tejral of Wahoo, NE, and 4 nieces and one nephew, 4 step-children and spouses, 15 step-grandchildren, and 28 step-great grandchildren, plus many other relatives and friends.
Visitation and family greeting from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. Friday at Metcalf Funeral Home, 245 N 27th St., Lincoln, NE. Memorial service to be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday at Capitol City Christian Church, 7800 Holdrege St., Lincoln, NE. Private prior burial.
Memorials may be given to the Ceresco Volunteer Fire Department or the Fridhem Cemetery.
